What to know

Testing that helps make the next step clearer.

What it is
Saliva panels — a Female Hormone Test and a Male Hormone Test — measuring estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol. Because saliva can be collected at several points, the result shows a pattern across a day or a cycle rather than a single reading.
What the visit may include
A conversation about what has been going on, guidance on collecting the sample, and a plan for when results return. Not sure where to begin? A free 15 minute consult with our Nutritionist is the place to start.
What you leave understanding
A thorough review of your results with the team — what sits in range, what does not, and the next step you agreed to — not numbers in an inbox.

Testing is recommended based on your history and goals; not every test is right for every person.

Two hormone doors

Hormone Balancing or Hormone Optimization?

Two services here share the word ‘hormone,’ and they are not the same thing. This one is with our nutritionist: an at-home saliva kit — one day, six small vials — sent to the lab, then a sit-down with your results and a plan to correct things naturally. It also reads other markers, so it shows whether hormones are the whole story or only part of it. Hormone therapy is our nurse practitioner’s route: a full blood panel first, then bio-identical hormones sent to your home. Which one first? Generally, if you are not perimenopausal or menopausal, start here — test, support it naturally, and see how far that gets you. If your goals are not met, bio-identical hormones can be added later while you keep working on why the hormones were off to begin with. A free 15-minute phone consult with our nutritionist is the quickest way to know which fits you.

The saliva panel

How We Can Help

We use a hormone saliva panel to check the state of hormones for both men and women. The saliva is taken throughout the day to ensure that hormone levels are not just captured at one point in the day since hormones fluctuate throughout the day. This helps to receive a more accurate test result. The test will assess current hormone levels and their ratios, along with corresponding stressed organs. If there are imbalances, we offer safe and effective homeopathic hormone remedies that you do not have to be on the rest of your life.

After reviewing the lab results with you, our nutritionist creates a personalized protocol plan.

If you want to find out the source of the imbalanced hormones, consider visiting with one of our Naturopaths for a full Functional Blood Analysis and Zyto Scan along with your hormone testing and balancing.

Your appointment

What happens during your visit

From the first conversation to your reviewed results, the process is simple, comfortable, and focused on you.

  1. Start with a conversation

Book online or call 817-379-3770. Not sure where to begin? A free 15 minute consult with our Nutritionist is the place to start.

  2. Collect the saliva sample

Saliva can be collected at several points, so the panel captures a pattern across a day or a cycle rather than a single moment.

  3. Review the results together

Results come with a thorough review — what sits in range, what does not, and the next step you agreed to.

An honest scope

What hormone testing can — and cannot — tell you.

What a panel may review

  • Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol, measured in saliva
  • The pattern across a day or a cycle, rather than a single moment
  • Shifts in energy, mood, sleep, body composition or libido that a one-off blood reading has not explained

What it cannot establish by itself

  • A result outside a reference range is information, not a verdict — it is read with your history, never on its own
  • Lab testing is not a standalone diagnosis
  • If a result belongs with a physician rather than with us, we will tell you that plainly and help you get there

Planning your visit

Clear expectations before you book.

Every body is different, and so is every care plan. The right panel — or the decision not to run one yet — comes out of a conversation about what has been going on.

How is the sample collected?

The hormone panels use saliva. Because it can be collected at several points, the panel shows a pattern across a day or a cycle rather than a single moment.

Is testing covered by insurance?

While ALWC does not take health insurance, if your insurance plan has a flexible spending account or health savings account, check with your plan administrator to see if our services are covered for reimbursement.

Financing is available. CareCredit offers up to 24 months of no-interest financing on any of our services, with no minimum — you can apply directly. We also offer an interest-free four-payment plan. Full terms are on our financing page.

What happens if a result is out of range?

You sit down with someone and go through it. A result outside a reference range is information, not a verdict — some are expected given what else is happening, some point at something worth acting on, and some are worth simply repeating before anyone reads anything into them.

And if a result belongs with a physician rather than with us, we will tell you that plainly and help you get there.

Hormone Testing Questions People Ask

What is involved in the test itself?

An at-home saliva collection kit — one day of collection, six small vials — which you send to the lab. We then sit down and go through what came back and build a plan from it.

Should I do this or go straight to hormone therapy?

Generally, if you are not perimenopausal or menopausal, starting here is the better order — see what the panel shows, support it naturally first, and move to bio-identical hormones later if your goals are not met. A free 15-minute phone consultation with Raena is the way to work out which applies to you.
