Anxiety

A tight chest before anything has even happened, and a mind that will not put the day down. You do not have to explain it well to start talking about it.

What this can look like

How we approach it

Starting with what is actually going on

Anxiety is not one thing, and that is usually why one approach has not worked. A nervous system that will not settle can be responding to a genuine stressor, or to sleep that has not been restorative for months, or to blood sugar swinging through the day, or to a thyroid or hormone picture nobody has looked at. So the first conversation here is about what has been happening rather than about which service to buy. From there, some people start with neurofeedback, which works directly with the nervous system rather than through talking. Others start with lab work, because a result on paper often explains something that has felt inexplicable. Many do both, in whichever order makes sense. What we will not do is put you on a protocol before anyone has understood what is actually going on, and if what you need is a counsellor or a physician, we will say so.

Which of these makes sense depends on what the first conversation turns up. You do not have to choose one now.

Anxiety Questions people ask

Do I need a diagnosis before I come in?

No. Most people who come in for this describe how they feel rather than name a condition, and that is a perfectly good place to begin. You will not be asked to justify why you are here.

Is this instead of therapy or medication?

No, and we would not frame it that way. What happens here sits alongside whatever else you are doing, and we are not the people to advise you on medication — that conversation belongs with the prescriber who knows your history. If what you need is a counsellor, we will tell you.

What does the first visit actually involve?

A conversation. You describe what has been going on, we ask questions, and together you leave with a starting point rather than a package. Nothing is decided before someone has listened.

Not sure this is the right page?

Start with what you are noticing

Most people arrive with a symptom rather than a service in mind, and more than one of these pages will often sound familiar. That is normal — the concerns overlap because the body does. Browse all fifteen, or just call and describe it. You do not have to arrive with the right words.
